kotaku, Assassin’s Creed is set to return in 2017 with it’s codenamed ‘Empire’, skipping 2016. This is supposedly a break in the usual trend followed by the giant publisher, who has released an Assassin’s Creed game in every Fall, since 2009. This skip is most probably due to the disappointment caused by the buggy release of Assassin’s Creed Unity in 2014, which has also affected the sales of rather excellent Assassin’s Creed Syndicate to some extent. It is also rumored that Assassin’s Creed Empire will be set in Egypt, and according to the 4chan posts on Neogaf here, it will be a fresh reboot of Assassin’s Creed series, which may end up being a trilogy (with the next installments may be set up in Greece/Rome according to 4chan poster).   Earlier this morning, there has been rumors flooding the internet regarding the release of next big installment in the Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise. On being asked by IGN, Ubisoft has stated the following comment:-
We can’t comment on rumor or speculation. We’re always happy when players are excited about our games, past, present and future. In the meantime, we hope that the latest images from the Assassin’s Creed movie set will keep fans of the franchise happy and eager to find out more!
It is believed that the usual launch slot for the Assassin’s Creed game, i.e this year Fall 2016, will be filled by WatchDogs 2 which is speculated to be set in San Francisco. Apart from that, the year 2016 may still be occupied with lots of activity from Assassin’s Creed. The two sidescrollers following the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, which will complete the trilogy, will be launching soon. The Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India will release on January 12, and Assassin’s Creed: Russia will launch on February 9. Also, the much awaited Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed Movie will launch on December 21, 2016. Stay tuned for further updates.
