Hitman gets PS4 Beta, ‘season’ structure and bonus content explained

BY AMIT BARAN ROY   |   Today IO Interactive announced that PlayStation 4 will be getting the first hand Beta access to the upcoming Hitman game on February 12th (next Friday). The PC version of the Beta will be arriving a week later. One can reserve their Beta access right away by pre-ordering either the Full Experience or Intro Pack via PlayStation Store. Even the Hitman Collector’s Edition will also fetch access to the Beta. The Collector’s Edition will include some interesting stuffs such as the 10” Agent 47 "Chessmaster" Statue, Hardcover 60-page art book (by Jonathan Rowe) as well as Agent 47 Iconic red tie and clip set. Irrespective of these different versions, Blood Money Requiem Pack is included with all of them.

In addition to the first hand Beta access, the PS4 owners will also be getting exclusive bonus content in the form of ‘The Sarajevo Six’ mission pack. It is a collection of six exclusive bonus missions only for PS4 users. Hitman premieres for Xbox One, Windows PC and PlayStation 4 on March 11th. Today, it also received a new ‘World of Assassination’ trailer. The trailer doesn’t feature any gameplay but gives a heads up of the violent Hitman world which we are soon going to experience. The trailer gave an expression of the action world of Hitman games that we are experiencing for the past 15 years (more like in Bond style).

IO Interactive also explained in the PlayStation blog post that the game season will have an episodic type story structure. Inspired by the TV series, new missions will keep getting released throughout the year that will add to the ongoing story. At the end of 2016, all the missions will be together combined into a retail disc. One can also buy the whole mission pack at one go for $60. Otherwise, the debut episode is priced at $15 while the subsequent episodes are worth $10. This will allow the developers to lay out a story that will not only concentrate on the protagonist Agent 47, but also on his ICA controller, Diana Burnwood as well as his targets.

The PS4 exclusive missions will be centred around bringing down the paramilitary group ‘CICADA’. Agent 47 will be in pursuit of his targets in the form of contracts based on specific locations from the game. The first PS4 exclusive contract, ‘The Director’ will be available on March 11th, the official launch date of the game. The 15 minutes of Hitman ‘showstopper’ gameplay reveals some of the advanced features of the game.
