Digital Extremes, the studio behind Warframe unveils a new game called Keystone

Combination of competitive First Person action and strategic deck-building

BY AMIT BARAN ROY   |   Digital Extremes, the Canadian developer and publisher behind the much acclaimed free to play, cooperative online blockbuster ‘Warframe’; has today revealed that they are working on their second IP ‘Keystone’. The first person shooting game will involve competitive first person action in combination with strategic deck building. The project is aiming to deliver a higher level of free to play experiences for its community and fans. They have also opened up the registrations for the Closed Alpha which will run from May 26-29 at the Key stone website. All invitees will get to know by May 25th.

Key stone is set in the 1970’s retro-pulp era, where it will take the players on a journey through a multi-verse that begins on the starting square of an intriguing, mystical board game. Players will progress on their journey with the help of unique deck of cards that offers handy benefits, amazing powers, and fearsome weapons. With proper resource management and careful timing, players can personalize their decks that can give them the advantage over the battle and also help in synergizing with your teammates’ cards, too, so you can expect a good amount of team work involved.

“The long-running success of Warframe has enabled us to build up a second internal team to create a wholly different but equally satisfying game concept that we're really excited about,” said Sheldon Carter, studio head at Digital Extremes. “Keystone originates from our roots in the FPS world and mixing genres like we have done with Warframe. We believe there's room to expand the confines of what defines a good FPS and hope our community will see the potential and get on board for the ride."

Digital Extremes has a pretty good record in developing FPS games. The artwork which you can see above gives a pretty good feel that the game will be an interdimensional sci-fi with a combination of FPS that begins from a board game. Do not forget to register for the closed alpha from
