Mass Effect: Andromeda’s Exploration trailer dives ‘straight into the heart’ of the game

A closer look at exploration from the Tempest to Helius Cluster

BY AMIT BARAN ROY   |   The latest Mass Effect: Andromeda trailer attempts to provide a deeper look into the exploration and discovery aspects of the game starting from the Tempest to the varied hundreds of worlds across the Helius Cluster.

In Mass Effect Andromeda, players can now have an expanded view of everything outside the Tempest’s main window in real time. You can also navigate star systems using the ship’s galaxy map. With over hundreds of unique and beautifully crafted worlds to visit, players can experience new characters, stories and challenges with respect to each world leading to a mesmerizing adventure across the galaxy.

In this trailer, they have shown the beautiful but heat stricken planet of Elaaden where thrives the Krogan. Players have to make their choices wisely that will determine their success on the planet and to complete challenges. In Andromeda, the all-terrain rover ‘Nomad’ is the key to scout across planets in speed. The rover can also be upgraded to generate more turbo boost, higher jumps, better handling etc. One beautiful aspect of the game is to discover locations on planets to call down ‘Forward Stations’ that will act as a fast travel point on the map, change loadout, recall the Nomad if lost and provide resupply and protection from environmental hazards.

In Andromeda, the more you explore a world and discover new characters, pacify with locals and accomplish tasks, it increases the ‘viability’ of the planet. This will help to allow for the creation of surface outposts and upgrade the Nexus, the Citadel kind Space Station in Andromeda. Upgrading the Nexus will wake up more colonies from cryo-sleep. Colonies can be scientists, militants or merchants that enable new perks and advantages in categories like R&D, combat and trading. Apart from these, Andromeda is full of vast network of ancient vaults, and accessing it is a difficult task in itself. Each vault has a world in itself and it depends on your Andromeda gameplay skills to make it out alive. The narrator states ‘Resolving the mystery of these vaults may just hold the key to survival in Andromeda.’

Mass Effect: Andromeda, the game of discovery & Exploration, is scheduled for release in North America on March 21 and in Europe on March 23.
