1. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst PC- Desyncs in Cut Scenes:-

This is a common issue which players may be experiencing since the launch of the 6 hour trial for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. You may experience a kind of lag during in game cinematics which is frustrating. But DICE is quick to open a thread for this issue. Right now, they are working on a fix that will be released shortly. You can also try turning ON Adaptive V-sync in your Nvidia Control Panel specifically for this game. Evidently, Xbox One users can get the patch 6.06 to fix the issue but PC users have to wait.

2. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst PC- Crash at startup/ CTD/ Game not responding/ APPCRASH/ Black screen fix:-

  • Update your Nvidia and AMD drivers to the latest versions.
  • Try Disabling Nvidia PhysX.
  • If your game is getting crashed with a D3D11 kind of error, make sure that you are not running any recording softwares like fraps, MSI AfterBurner and especially D3DGear. Try clean reinstalling your DirectX software.
  • Disable antivirus/firewall or add game to the exception list of the antivirus software.
  • Black screen issue- Well this issue can be due to lot of reasons. First of all, you should check that the in-game resolution matches the resolution supported by your display device so that there should not be any conflict. If you are using HDMI, try unplugging the HDMI cable from TV and launch the game. Wait a few mins before replugging the HDMI cable back into the TV.
  • If your game is crashing while going full screen, try running the game in Windowed mode. This can also be one of the solutions for a typical black screen issue.
  • For many users, a simple restart has been able to fix quite a lot of crashing issues.
  • If nothing works, go offline in Origin and run the game.
  • Registry clean using CCleaner can also fix some of the crashes. You can download CCleaner from here.
  • For any DLL error or APPCRASH issue, it is recommended to do a clean install of Directx. Or, you can download the missing DLLs from here and paste them in the game directory.

3. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst PC- Low FPS/ Frame Drops/Lags/ Stuttering/ Blurriness/ Freezes:-

  • This goes without saying that you need to have updated AMD and Nvidia GPU drivers before playing this game. AMD users can get the 16.6.1 version Crimson drivers.
  • Multiple GPU system owners should note that though this game supports SLI and Crossfire, but many SLI users have found terrible frame drops with SLI enabled. For now, it is recommended that you disable SLI for smooth 60FPS. Crossfire users may still try out their luck.
  • If you are experiencing constant stuttering, flickering or blurry textures, try restarting your PC once after installing the game. You can also try disabling Origin in game.
  • If you don’t own a high end system, it is recommended that you lower some of the in-game graphics and especially FOV. Make sure that you restart your system once if the changes don’t take place.
  • For AMD users, disable Raptr from task manager. Disable any other intensive applications that may be running in background. Also try setting ‘Tessellation mode’ to 8x/16x and 'Texture Filtering Quality' to Performance from your latest Crimson edition Radeon software to fix frame rate drops.
  • For Nvidia users, go into your control panel 3d settings. Make sure that ‘Power Management Mode’ option should be set to ‘Prefer Maximum Performance’.
  • Turn off all overlaying softwares and disable any recording softwares like Fraps, D3DGear, MSI Afterburner etc.
  • Disable third party background apps and set High Priority for the game in Task Manager. Disable any kind of overclocking.
  • Memory Leaks:- Users can experience severe memory leaks with low RAM (less than 6GB). The recommended RAM for this game is as high as 16 GB. Much of the in game freezes can also be attributed to low available RAM. To fix it to some extent, try the next steps. Right click MyComputer > Properties > AdvancedSystemSettings > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Change Virtual Memory. Set page file for C drive to be anything high (say 5GB), then it may fix majority of the lag.

While more fixes are on the way, you can also visit the official forum for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst to look for more fixes. For people who are getting frustrated by the late delivery of the game by AMAZON even after preordering, they are advised to wait patiently. ;-)

Heads Up:- Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is currently available on Origin and it’s official website.
